I know I’m late but now that I’m through with all my written tests I can finally tell you about the concert.
Well, as you might know, Rufus Wainwright is anything but a minimalist. So the venue was a big theatre and I managed to smuggle my camera past the security…My seat was in the 12th row so the pictures I took are not that great…But after the break (yeah, there was a break!!!) my new acquaintance Sina, who was seated in the first row took care of the photos. However, Rufus was in a good mood and was really talkative. He started with “Release The Stars” which is also the name of his album (if you haven’t heard of it yet) and…well, the directory of the night. He played all of the songs from the new album, mixed up with some old stuff. A really nice setlist…Anyway, let’s start with the pictures:
His performance was just lovely…His voice was a little hoarse, cause “You gotta give it to Berlin, you know” but he was great nonetheless. He had to restart “Nobody’s Off The Hook” but nobody cared…He was just too charming (he apologized a couple of times). As you can see on the slideshow, he changed his outfit a couple of times. Though this sounds like he’s the new Kylie Minogue it was fun. From the red/white suite (That matches with the American flag in the background) to the leather trousers and then to the bathrobe that hid the jacket and his pantyhose. What can I say, he’s unique! The only bad thing about the concert was the venue. A lot of old people with seasonal tickets (I guess they had such tickets…They didn’t look like they knew him!) stopped by to watch him and nobody sang along or put their hands up. However, why don’t you give the live version of “Rules And Regulations” a listen that I recorded with my camera?
